Grasse is the world’s capital of scents en here you can learn all about perfumes. The story began in 1926, when Eugene Fuchs opened a perfumery, in homage to the famous painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The original factory in Fragonard is now spread on three different sites in Grasse. Not only can you enjoy all the delicious scents that are developed here, but you can also fabricate them yourself. There is also a museum in which you learn everything about perfumes.

It is hard to walk in Grasse without finding a perfume shop. Everything here is about scents and aromas made from herbs, flowers, minerals and plant extracts. Raw materials that have been here in abundance for centuries. The Grasse’s perfumers could stock up their raw materials nice and cheap and that is one of the reasons why the odour industry got so big here.

The mimosa is a very important flower at the Côte d’Azur. Throuhout the year, The Fragrance Fragonard pays tribute to this beautiful flower just as ephemeral, wintry emblem of the French Riviera. This plant belongs to the Acacia family and at the end of the 19th century the Mimosa was planted by English vacationers wintering on the Riviera.
