Cannes

Cannes is one of the mundane seaside resorts on the Côte d'Azur. Famous are the Carlton hotel and the  Majestic hotel, dominating the boulevard and giving Cannes its characteristic appearance. The boulevard is several kilometres long and is a real pleasure to walk down and have a stroll. For most beaches you have to pay and please bear in mind that if you order something here, 10 to 15 euros for a beer is quite normal. There are two public beaches.

Activities

The museum of natural history used to be here. Each floor of this neo-classical building has its own carved decoration. A beautiful site for those who love culture.

Notre Dame de l'Esperance

The ancient part of Cannes is on the slopes of Mont Chevalier. On the Place de la Caste you can still see a part of the old city wall. On the square is Notre Dame de l'Esperance, built in the 16th and 17th century in the Provençal gothic style.
